I love my job!

OK well i figured i should probably post a POSITIVE HAPPY post about my job, because all of this ranting and raving and venting about my job, probably has people thinking "Gosh she hates her job!" Which is SO not true. In reality i LOVE my job! Yes, it is demanding, overwhelming and extremely hard work... BUT i love it! there is nothing better than watching kids learn and grow and knowing that you helped them understand something new!! I love watching the light click in their head and helping them feel accomplished and good about themselves. My heart breaks when theirs breaks, i worry when they worry, I hurt when they hurt, I seriously LOVE my kids, and i get attached to them each time i get a new set of kids, and i cry each time i have to send another group on to the next grade.. It is my highlight when one of my old students stops by to say HI or to catch me up on middle school. It is so fun to see them grow and change! It is so weird to think my first group of kids is in 9th grade... THEY WILL BE IN HIGH SCHOOL NEXT YEAR!!! I love when they tell me i was their favorite teacher!! I really love my job. (I miss them when they move on)

But for real...What other job do you automatically get the holidays off? And other breaks throughout the year... YES they come at quite the price, and people often say how lucky we are, but believe me we work through our breaks, we work after school there is ALWAYS some project i am working on!! BUT OH how i love the breaks! it is the only time i get to catch up with reality and get ready to do it all again~!

I just want everyone to know that i couldn't love anyone more than my kids, I wouldn't do what i do if i didn't care about them, and care about my job! I even like talking to the sweepers that clean my room! I work with the best people ever!!! I wouldn't be who i am today if i wasn't a teacher, and for that i am grateful!!

Parent Teacher Conferences.

Ok So Have you ever stopped to think about what a teacher goes through when Parent Teacher Conferences comes around? Well for me, it is such a nervous time of year I get so anxious.. YES it usually goes well, and there are no problems, occasionally an upset parent, or a major concern. But for the most part, just a couple of REALLY long nights.

But still, as it approaches, i am getting nervous and anxious. I have spent long hours this last week, getting the report cards done, setting up my room to seek parental approval. Cleaning everything so it doesn't look like a hurricane just came through, anxiously waiting for the parents to sign up for a time so i can start arranging my materials according to schedule. Getting more anxious each day.

It's weird because when the time comes, they come in and magically i know what to say, I can usually respond well and have the answers to their questions... But up until that first parent walks through the door its a constant panic attack....

Cant wait for this week's fun! Hope it all goes well!!!

Haunted Village!

OK so last night me Mikel, Kristen and Eric went to the Haunted Village. Which is the haunted house up at "This is the Place Monument... Any of you that have ever been ANYWHERE with me, let alone somewhere scary know that i am very very jumpy. Heck i scream when my landlord opens the door in the garage when i am in there. I am very very jumpy. SO you can assume how it works when scary creepy guys pop out and scare me... I ran through the thing screaming.... I think i almost peed my pants atleast three times! It was a weird set up for a haunted house. It is both inside and outside, you walk a lot in between the different buildings. But it was way fun! I think the funny thing is, i am not afraid of the people dressed up all dead-like. Its just the intial jumping out that scares the shiz out of me. And then ok ok it is pretty creepy when they follow you... They just get too close for comfort.

I love it. It's one of my very favorite things to do. I just hate that it is getting so freaking expensive to go! That's why i am excited to go to Mikel's haunted house, "Terror on 84th". Him and his friends have built a haunted house throughout his yard. They put it on the last week of October, BEST part is, it's free! You just bring a can of food, and they donate it all to the food bank! What an awesome thing to do!?? It's pretty dang awesome too, you should check it out!

Anyway I love HALLOWEEN!!! yahoo! But sad and lucky? i am off track for Halloween! yahoo one more week of school! One more BUSY week of parent teacher conferences, but still 5 more days of school and then i get a break!!!

Everyone say YAHOO for Year Round School!!
