A Love Hate Relationship....

So I have a Love hate relationship with teaching Year Round School... I LOVE being off track and having my breaks 4 times a year instead of all together at once... BUT I HATE when it's time to go back to work after being off track. It messes with my head, and my heart!!! I get to relax and play, and enjoy things i just don't have time for while i am teaching. But then the time approaches to return to school (MONDAY to be exact) and a few days before, i get anxious, and i know the end is coming... And like today, I am slightly apprehensive for the return to school. I Know I know, once i get there and my kids come i will be FINE. But It's almost like that nervous first day of school feeling all over again. Except less intimidating cuz i already know my kids. I think i am just way NOT excited to get up that early again! And have to actually get really ready each day!! BUT i do love that i get breaks at different times of the year. It really is amazing. And i dont know if i would like having ALL summer off. I would probably end up getting a summer job or something and working my entire break...

Now i know some of you are thinking. WOW teaching, what an ideal schedule and work load. WELL rest assure, yes, i don't physically have to go into school. BUT i do still do work and projects when i am off track. And i stay late almost every day i am at school. So while officially i only work 9 to 10 months out of the year... I promise you i work 12 months out of the year and every thought I have is about school. I can't even go to the store without a thought creeping in like "OH i could definitely use that in my class!" Not to mention my financial investment into all the cool projects i create!

YES, It is official I do LOVE my job... But I also HATE that anxious feeling i get when i have to go back to work....

PS i am also super sad i only have nine weeks of school left and i have to say goodbye to my AMAZING class... and begin the worrying and anxiety of a new school year!! (That will only start 3 weeks after my goodbye!!) Oh the wondrous cycle of teaching!!! GOTTA love it!!

Are you serious!??! Off track time is ending again.... SO soon??

There ya go, The moment captured in essence! I did it! I made it through the graduation! YAHOO! And I did it with some of the best Friends!
But that also means that i am nearing the end of being off track. I have to tell you that being off track is the best thing in the world!! Nothing like being off track, reading books watching tv you have missed. Hanging with Friends you never get to see

And playing with my niece and nephews! Who i freaking LOVE!!!!

All and all it is great! Except the anxiety i feel just about now when i have only a couple days left and i know i have to be back on Friday and i start freaking out, and dreading waking up, and wondering if i am planned and ready (Even though i spend the first few days off (at least) every time i go off getting ready for when i go back! It's like the first day of school all over again anxiety wise! HA BUT then i get there and its back to normal like i never left!

Here's to the last few days of being off track!!

Parent Teacher Conferences.

Ok So Have you ever stopped to think about what a teacher goes through when Parent Teacher Conferences comes around? Well for me, it is such a nervous time of year I get so anxious.. YES it usually goes well, and there are no problems, occasionally an upset parent, or a major concern. But for the most part, just a couple of REALLY long nights.

But still, as it approaches, i am getting nervous and anxious. I have spent long hours this last week, getting the report cards done, setting up my room to seek parental approval. Cleaning everything so it doesn't look like a hurricane just came through, anxiously waiting for the parents to sign up for a time so i can start arranging my materials according to schedule. Getting more anxious each day.

It's weird because when the time comes, they come in and magically i know what to say, I can usually respond well and have the answers to their questions... But up until that first parent walks through the door its a constant panic attack....

Cant wait for this week's fun! Hope it all goes well!!!

Why is life so crazy?!

Ok so First of all, WARNING this is going to be a major vent session, since i think it is safe to say, Not too many people are reading this anyway, and i am not sure who to talk to... SO i get to write about it instead.

Ever feel like the whole world is right in front of you and all you want is the choice you left behind?

I swear you finally get life figured out even a little bit and POOF it all rains again. I felt like i was really getting back on my game. Happy, for the most part. Content with life, accomplishing goals. And all of a sudden the entire world is glistening in the path ahead and then suddenly somewhere deep inside you stop to think... "Wait a second I want to be back where i was a few months ago."

I miss My relationship with Spencer. That is no lie. And it is no surprise to those of you that know me. He was in fact a huge part of my life. It has been hard to get past the life i had with him. I finally got to the point where I could break away from him, and move on. It was not easy, by any means, but i knew i had to do it. Then i was ok. I knew i was moving to the right path. And making goals again in life. And then of course, Now i am getting hit yet again with pain. Just when you think you have made it through the darkness and mess of a relationship gone wrong, it hits you again! You start to miss them, and wonder what you could have done differently to make it all work. It is a back and forth up and down emotional roller coaster!!

Not to mention i am kinda freaked out about starting a new grade this year. It is like being a first year teacher all over again! I have had to recreate the way i teach! It has been very stressful and overwhelming! And i am 2 weeks away from starting school and already working my butt off everyday to get ready! And stressing the first day of school! I have been so nervous and stressed it has literally made me sick! So apart from having a constant headache, and wanting to throw up =) Life is good.

3 Cheers for being 25, not married, no children, and doubting your Career path!

Catch up Saturday

OK SO this is Catch up Saturday where i am going to catch you up on lots that has happened that i forgot to post that i wanted to still mention, and then I will also post about tonight, and by the time i am done it will probably be catch up SUNDAY because it is after midnight. ANYWAY

1st catch up: Some of my girls from last year came to visit me at school. I was excited when Shea, Britt, and Polly came and their friend Kellie. And they came on a fun day it was the day we had just gotten our "Sugar Babies" So the girls helped me host our "baby shower" It was a lot of fun. I will include those pictures so you can see them! I loved having them come back to visit me, especially since i have switched schools, so i am not even still at the same school i was at when i taught them! They came the extra mile to visit and i think its great! Mali went to my old school too and she came to see me. I had her 2 years ago, but i also have her cousin in my class this year too, it's a small world. it's nice to feel loved though!

2nd catch up: Mikel and I went up to Kristen's cabin ("The Sleepy S")to go four wheeling again it was so cute Mike was driving around Kaylee and Gage around the yard because they couldn't wait until we got up to the mountain trail to ride. Then Kaylee was walking the dogs and was being so cute and bossy with them.

3rd Catch up, After that really hard rain storm my apartment flooded, i live in the basement, so it can be expected. And luckily it was the unfinished portion that got hit with the most water, so nothing was damaged!!

4th catch up was tonights fun. Mikel and i went to Taylorsville days with my dad and britt and ry and the kids. It was a lot of fun we got to see fireworks and the kids played on some toys and they had a petting zoo. It was really cool. I love this time of the year!!! There was a beautiful sunset, i wish it could have worked better in the picture. It was a great day of fun, great weather and family. I am glad we went. I also went to lunch with Jessica today, it was fabulous, but i didn't take pictures of that.

SO.... Anyway enjoy the slide show of random photos that go with all of the catch ups!!!

New writing obsession

OK so i am on a really crazy writing kick. I love to write, and it doesn't matter what i write, it can be like a journal about my feelings, a story, and my new silly fun is poetry. I fully admit at this moment that it isn't necessarily publishing worthy poetry it is just fun silly Alisha poems. But i wanted to share them anyway, maybe i will even post a story later, or whatever else i decided to write. I have always loved writing, i just never get time to actually do it! I want to manage my time better so i can do more of the things i love. Anyway here is my first poem i am going to share, it is a silly emotional poem about teaching, since that is about all i have been thinking about at this point of the school year. (THREE MORE WEEKS LEFT!!)

Teaching

Another smart remark,
Another child gone off task.
It’s always a “He said, She said”
battle. Never a walk in the park.

Another deep breath taken,
Bite my tongue and hold it in.
I laugh, I smile, and I cry
And then I do it all again.

Oh the joys of teaching,
Watching students learn and grow.
You never really know what is going to happen,
So just sit back and enjoy the show.

Each day is a test of patience
Of strength and will and joy
I try to appear happy
To every girl and boy.

But sometimes I get frustrated and
Sometimes I can’t be strong,
I have to laugh instead of cry
And try to carry on.

I often wonder if it is meant to be.
And if teaching is really for me.
But I love to help them understand
To have faith and to believe!

I never want to see them sad, or overcome with pain
I love to help them look up,
When all they see is rain.

I love my job,
Although it’s hard
And hope that I can be
The best me I can be and
A teacher full of GLEE!
